Privacy Policy

Last Updated: February 4, 2026

1. Introduction

At apkTrusted ("we," "us," or "our"), we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our APK analysis services. Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the site.

We are committed to minimizing data collection and ensuring transparency about how your uploaded files and technical data are handled.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in two main categories: Data you provide to us (Uploaded Files) and Data we collect automatically (Metadata and Logs).

A. Uploaded Files

When you upload an Android Application Package (APK) file for analysis:

  • Temporary Processing: The file is temporarily saved to our secure processing environment to extract technical information (manifest data, permissions, certificates, etc.).
  • Immediate Deletion: Once the analysis is complete (usually within seconds to minutes), the actual APK file is automatically deleted from our servers. We do not permanently store, archive, or distribute the APK files you upload.

B. Analysis Metadata

While the file itself is deleted, we strictly retain the technical metadata derived from the analysis. This includes:

  • File hashes (MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256).
  • Package name, version code, and version name.
  • App permissions, activities, services, receivers, and providers.
  • Minimum and target SDK versions.
  • File size, selected URL endpoints, and internal structure details.

This metadata is stored permanently in our database to allow us to display analysis results without requiring re-upload and to build a searchable database of app information.

C. Usage Data and Logs

We may collect certain information about your access to the Service, including:

  • IP Address: We record the IP address associated with each upload request for security purposes, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.
  • Browser Details: User-agent strings, browser type, and operating system information.
  • Timestamps: The date and time of your visit and file uploads.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following specific purposes:

  • To Provide the Service: Processing your uploaded files to generate the requested analysis reports.
  • To Maintain a Public Database: The metadata from analyzed files is indexed to create a public record of app versions and their properties.
  • To Improve Security: Monitoring IP addresses helps us detect and block Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, spam, and malicious automated scripts.
  • To Communicate: If you contact us directly, we use your provided contact details to respond to your inquiries.

4. Disclosure of Your Information

We are not in the business of selling your personal data. However, certain data is shared as part of the Service's functionality:

  • Publicly Available Information: Any metadata extracted from uploaded files (e.g., package names, hashes, permissions) becomes public information on our website. Do not upload files containing private, confidential, or personally identifiable information embedded in the metadata.
  • Third-Party Security Services: We may query external threat-intelligence providers using your file hash to retrieve existing scan intelligence. We do not upload full file content unless explicitly required and disclosed by the Service workflow.
  • Service Providers: We use third-party hosting and infrastructure providers (such as Cloudflare) to run our website. These providers may have access to traffic logs as part of their standard operations to ensure site reliability and security.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or a government agency).

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use minimal tracking technologies:

  • Essential Cookies/Local Storage: We use browser Local Storage to remember your preferences, such as Dark Mode settings.
  • No Third-Party Analytics: We do not currently use invasive third-party analytics trackers (like Google Analytics) that profile your browsing behavior across the web.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect the security of your information.

  • Encryption: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (HTTPS).
  • File Isolation: Uploaded files are processed in isolated environments to prevent server compromise.
  • Regular Cleanup: Automated scripts ensure that uploaded file data is purged from our systems immediately after processing.

However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.

8. Your Data Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:

  • Access: The right to request copies of your personal data.
  • Rectification: The right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate.
  • Erasure: The right to request that we erase your personal data (e.g., if you uploaded a private APK by mistake and want its metadata removed from our public index). Please contact us to make such a request.

To exercise these rights, please contact us at the email provided on our Contact page.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
