The electricity we consume comes from different primary energy sources of varying degrees of pollution (solar, wind, biomass, nuclear, gas, etc.) which form the energy mix. The proportions of this energy mix are constantly changing due to the instabilities associated with renewable energies, which affects the carbon footprint of our electricity.

Météo Elec has built a model that predicts the proportion of renewables in the energy mix hour by hour, over 7 days. By shifting our electricity consumption from a time when a large proportion of the energy mix is made up of fossil fuels to a time when the proportion of the mix is made up of more renewable energies, we can reduce our CO2 impact while covering the same consumption need.

The CO2 saving we generate by shifting our consumption is real and independent of our electricity supplier. Even if we have signed up for a 100% "green" electricity contract that financially supports renewable energy producers, we can also really reduce the CO2 emissions linked to our consumption by following Meteo Elec's indications.
