Every year, SBQ promotes the traditional Annual Meeting of the Chemical Society (RASBQ), one of the largest scientific events in Brazil and Latin America, which brings together around 2000 participants. In 2025, we will have the 48th Annual Meeting of the Chemical Society in Campinas at Expo Dom Pedro from June 8 to 11, 2025. Therefore, we are pleased to invite you to participate in this event, as it is a great opportunity to bring together the scientific community, promoting the advancement of science, technology, innovation and education.

As president of the organizing committee for this meeting, I want to present the news and highlights that we will have in this edition. Firstly, the choice of the city of Campinas was strategic as it is a recognized scientific, technological and innovation hub. It is the headquarters city of the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials-CNPEM (and National Síncroton Laboratory). Campinas has many transport facilities with an international airport with flights to all of Brazil, many of them direct. São Paulo airports (Congonhas and Guarulhos) are between 1.5-2 hours from Campinas. The road network that connects Campinas is also conducive and allows easy travel from several cities, for example São Paulo (1.5h), Araraquara (2.5h), São Carlos (2h), Ribeirão Preto (3h), Curitiba (6.5h) and Rio de Janeiro (7h). Campinas has a large hotel sector and easy transport in the city. The event location, Expo Dom Pedro, is located next to Shopping Dom Pedro, on the Dom Pedro highway. It is approximately 25 minutes from Viracopos airport, 10 minutes from UNICAMP (and Barão Geraldo neighborhood) and 15 minutes from the well-known Cambuí neighborhood. Furthermore, Campinas has a large hotel system with several hotels nearby that can be reached within 7-15 minutes. The event venue (Expo Dom Pedro) has capacity for more than 3000 people and its large and innovative space allowed us to bring many new features to the event. This location is attached to the well-known Shopping Dom Pedro, also offering many facilities.

The theme of the 48th RASBQ is "Climate Emergencies? Chemistry Acts and Reacts" and we already have confirmed renowned speakers such as Prof. Paulo Artaxo, considered a national and international authority on the topic of climate change. Furthermore, we have the American John Warner, who was one of the founders of Green Chemistry and is considered a great scientist and entrepreneur with more than 300 patents. Our opening speaker is the prestigious Prof. Susana Torresi from USP. We have a confirmed program with more than 30 activities and 40 speakers, where we seek to meet regional diversity (Brazilian and international), gender, race and career stage.
