Family Bash v1.0.3
ARTE ExperienceAbout this app
Family Bash, a darkly humorous visual novel, attempts to solve the problem of monotonous storytelling by offering a unique, interactive experience, but its below-average user rating suggests significant issues that may deter potential users. The app's target audience, likely fans of visual novels and adventure games, may benefit from its quirky narrative, but its limitations and lack of polish may fall short compared to other alternatives in the Game Adventure category. The absence of permissions requested by the app is a notable aspect, indicating a potentially more private experience. However, the app's overall quality and user satisfaction are compromised by its numerous issues, making it a less desirable option for gamers seeking a engaging adventure game.
Pros
- Family Bash offers a unique, darkly humorous narrative that may appeal to fans of visual novels and adventure games looking for something different from the usual genres.
- The app's small size and lack of permissions requested make it a relatively private and lightweight option for users concerned about data collection and storage space.
- The developer, ARTE Experience, has a reputation for creating innovative and artistic experiences, which may lend some credibility to the app's overall quality and design.
- The absence of ads in the app provides a more immersive experience for users, allowing them to focus on the game without interruptions.
- The option for in-app purchases may provide users with a way to enhance their experience or access additional content, although the $3.99 price point may be a deterrent for some.
Cons
- The app's below-average user rating and limited number of reviews suggest that it may be plagued by significant issues, such as bugs, poor performance, or a lack of engaging gameplay, which could detract from the overall experience.
- The monetization model, which includes in-app purchases, may be perceived as aggressive or exploitative, particularly given the app's limited content and high price point for additional items.
- The app's compatibility with only Android 5.1 and later may limit its accessibility for users with older devices, potentially excluding a significant portion of the target audience.
- The lack of updates or support from the developer may indicate a lack of commitment to improving the app's quality or addressing user concerns, which could further erode user trust and satisfaction.
Best for: The ideal user for Family Bash is likely a fan of visual novels and adventure games aged 16-30, with a medium to high level of technical skill, who is looking for a unique, interactive storytelling experience and is willing to tolerate some potential issues with the app's quality and performance in exchange for a quirky and humorous narrative.
Developer Description
A darkly humorous visual novel that unfolds amid shouting matches and secrets.
Family Bash tells the timeless story of the Family – the one we love, cherish, insult and despise. You arrive in the village hall of a small French town out in the sticks in Normandy to celebrate your grandfather’s birthday: he’s 90 years old, still “all there” and is the living memory of your family. Just as the party is shaping up to be fun, you find yourself at the centre of an intergenerational conflict with unforeseeable consequences. You begin to uncover the dark secrets and ulterior motives of the various members of your family. In Family Bash, a seemingly insignificant choice can change the relationships between your family members forever. So explore your surroundings and make choices, talk to your cousins, confront your uncle and find out about that mysterious will – for better or for worse.
• Explore some unusual themes in the video game: the family and comedy.
• Find out about your grandfather’s last will and testament, uncover some unmentionable secrets and destroy your uncle’s car.
• The extraordinary visual style of Geoffroy Monde
• An original rap soundtrack

Great game, I just don't have the money to pay for the complete experience, but from just the prequel I can be sure this one is goood
Actually pretty interesting story, but the rest is blocked behind a (pretty cheap) paywall.
It's a cute game. Sadly, the game lacks a bit in story, I encountered one part where there was only a so-called "placeholder-story" and several others that felt like it. The genre of an interactive story is a really cool one, but writing a good story is tough. Unfortunately, your choices either only affect one "chapter" / trigger some special sections of the story, makes it more dull/less immersive. Some parts are unnecessary long/unskippable, making replaying the story not really tempting.
