Developer Description
Visualize the shape of unit cells, packing and voids of all types in 3D
This app covers the following topics:
1. Types of Unit Cell:
- Primitive/Simple cubic unit cell.
- Body-centred/body centered cubic unit cell or bcc.
- Face-centred/face centered cubic unit cell or fcc.
2. Types of Packing:
- Packing in one dimension.
- Packing in two dimension.
- Packing in three dimension.
3. Types of Voids:
- Tetrahedral void.
- Octahedral void.
You can also imagine its crystal lattice by visualizing all the unit cells.
Purpose of making this app:
- Unit cells, packing and voids are actually 3D is shape and we study it in 2D in chemistry books. So, it becomes harder to visualize and understand it in 2D. This app helps the students of chemistry to visualize it in 3D as such they can understand it better.

It is an excellent app and very useful for me. It Helps class 12th students and those who are preparing for neet and jee .It's 3d view clears the concept about solid state.
If the tetrahedral and octahedral "voids" get filled with colour and rest atoms get removed so that we are able to picturize the void it would make things easier to understand.
Really nice visualization tool for cubic unit cells and void space. It falls down hard on the close packing topic. It shows a primitive or simple cubic as close packed. I want to suggest this tool for my students but I'm not sure if it is worth the confusion that may follow. If you would change it to an ABAB vs ABC close packing, it would be amazing.
Not good , because I can't zoom this structure .And you can't see , what the void looks like from the inside of the void .
its not good really not explained anything broadly and not classified caeed of closed packing like abab, abcabc,and also for hcp,
