I like the app, I like that it not only tracks the safety but also the miles and time your trip takes. The one thing that I don't like is when you have to brake hard as a result of someone pulling out in front of you or for an animal, you get penalized for braking hard to avoid hitting or preventing an accident. There should be an option for that. Not every braking hard incident is due to tailgating or not paying attention. Especially when you have multiple drives with 0 infractions.
For the most part the app is fine, though there is no option to indicate when a passenger uses your phone. Since it affects your discount, that option should be provided. I also noticed it seems overly sensitive for stopping too fast, when one would hardly consider it a hard stop. I haven't seen it score anything but 1 or 5 stars. Since there are various degrees of braking, there should be varied scores given.
If you never brake for a yellow light, never brake for a car running a stop sign or swerving into your lane on the highway, and never brake when a kid's ball flies into the road or a pedestrian steps off the curb into a crosswalk, then you won't get dinged for "Hard Braking". Why does an app geared toward safety penalize you for practicing defensive driving?
The app is only fair at best. It measures "distractions"...and "hard braking which isn't very smart. If you have your cell phone in your pocket they mark you as distracted if you move your leg. Hard braking? Apparently they would rather you rear end the guy that stopped short in front of you. This app isn't very accurate and needs a LOT of work!
I didn't like it at all. It's not accurate. It records every hard break as a bad thing and has no discretion, even if a hard break just saved your life. I don't do a lot of my own driving, so every time I'm a passenger even if it's public transportation I have to go into the app and change it to passenger. Even when my phone is in the trunk secured in a unmovable position, I still get dinged for phone distractions like tapping it. And bottom line, I don't like being tracked.
