By the grace and assistance of God Almighty, this noble Mushaf was written and edited according to the recitation of Nafi' ibn Abi Nu'aym al-Madani (d. 169 AH) as transmitted by Abu Sa'id Uthman ibn Sa'id al-Misri, known as Warsh (d. 197 AH), and the chain of transmission of Yusuf ibn Amr al-Azraq al-Madani (d. c. 240 AH), with an unbroken chain of transmission from Nafi' to Ibn Abbas, Abu Hurayrah, and Abdullah ibn Ayyash, on the authority of Ubayy ibn Ka'b al-Ansari, on the authority of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). In performing this recitation, I also relied on the choices of Abu Amr Uthman ibn Sa'id al-Dani al-Andalusi (d. 444 AH), according to his unbroken chain of transmission to al-Azraq, on the authority of Warsh, on the authority of Nafi'. This is the recitation that the Maghrebis have followed in their official recitation, and they have adopted it in the orthography, diacritical marks, and punctuation of their Mushafs from his time until today.
