Carl Beech, who developed Young Onset Parkinson's Disease (YOPD), experienced challenges with his speech and gait. He discovered that a simple tapping technique at the right frequency could restore his ability to speak and significantly reduce anxiety. Interestingly, the key was to ignore the rhythm of the tapping, rather than trying to talk in sync with it. This discovery inspired him, with support of Parkinson's UK, to create a wearable device (beechband.com) and a smartwatch app that replicate this therapeutic tapping technique.
