The Courier - Scotland News v2.17
DC Thomson & Co LtdAbout this app
The Courier - Scotland News app solves the problem of providing local and breaking news to users in Dundee, Fife, Perth, and Angus, benefiting those who want to stay informed about regional events. Compared to alternatives in the News And Magazines category, this app stands out for its focus on Scottish news, but falls short in terms of user reviews and ratings data. The app's limited download numbers and lack of ratings data may raise concerns about its popularity and user engagement. However, the developer's reputation and the app's in-app purchase model suggest a commitment to providing quality content.
Pros
- The app's focus on local Scottish news provides users with a unique perspective on regional events, making it a valuable resource for those interested in staying informed about their community.
- The developer, DC Thomson & Co Ltd, is a well-established company with a reputation for producing high-quality content, which suggests that the app will provide accurate and reliable news.
- The app's in-app purchase model allows users to access premium content, providing a way for users to support the app and its developers while also getting additional value.
- The app's lack of ads ensures a clean and uninterrupted reading experience, making it easier for users to focus on the news and content.
- The app's requirement of Android 8.0 or higher ensures that it is compatible with a wide range of devices, making it accessible to a large number of users.
Cons
- The app's limited download numbers and lack of ratings data may raise concerns about its popularity and user engagement, making it difficult for potential users to gauge the app's quality and usefulness.
- The app's in-app purchase model, with prices ranging from $9.99 to $284.99 per item, may be seen as aggressive or expensive by some users, potentially limiting its appeal.
- The app's lack of permissions may suggest that it does not collect or use user data, but it also raises questions about how the app supports itself and its developers, potentially leading to concerns about data collection or advertising in the future.
Best for: The ideal user for this app is someone who is interested in staying informed about local and regional news in Scotland, particularly in the areas of Dundee, Fife, Perth, and Angus, and is willing to pay for premium content to support the app and its developers, likely including individuals who value high-quality, local news and are looking for a reliable source of information about their community.

This a much better experience when used on my tablet than the standard entry on the same platform. I have not had a loss of access on any of the days when I have used it, while that was a daily occurrence before, I can read the normal typeface but have the added facility to raise the point size very easily again without a single loss of viewing. I had been considering canceling my subscription on the original provision but am now completely satisfied.
Only been using it for a short time but the only problem I have found is that when using the app I find that if I click on an item it does not bring the item up to read as in the Web view. However i have one difficulty with this app. If you start to read an article on which is then continued onto another page I have to come off this page and start again. I would have thought I would have been able to read the whole article without interruption
I wish I had access to the full Courier.
Puzzle pages keep crashing
Cant get the current edition although I've down loaded the app. Definitely not impressed!
