ESPN Tournament Challenge v13.0.1
DisneyAbout this app
The ESPN Tournament Challenge app solves the problem of keeping track of NCAA Tournament brackets and scores for both Men's and Women's games, benefiting sports enthusiasts, particularly those interested in college basketball. Compared to other sports apps, ESPN Tournament Challenge stands out with its comprehensive coverage and user-friendly interface, but falls short with its mixed user rating and presence of ads. The app's reputation is backed by its developer, Disney, a well-known media conglomerate. Overall, it's a solid choice for NCAA Tournament followers, despite some drawbacks.
Pros
- With over 1 million downloads, the ESPN Tournament Challenge app boasts significant social proof, indicating a large and engaged user base, which is a major advantage in the sports category.
- The app's developer, Disney, is a reputable company with a strong track record of delivering high-quality digital products, which enhances the app's credibility and trustworthiness.
- The app's interface is well-designed and easy to navigate, making it accessible to users of various skill levels and ages, from casual fans to die-hard NCAA enthusiasts.
- ESPN Tournament Challenge provides comprehensive coverage of the NCAA Tournament, including scores, brackets, and news, making it a one-stop-shop for users looking to stay up-to-date on the latest developments.
- The app's frequent updates ensure that users have access to the latest features and improvements, which is essential for a sports app that needs to keep pace with real-time events.
Cons
- The app's mixed user rating of 3.5/5 raises some concerns, as it suggests that not all users are satisfied with the app's performance, functionality, or overall experience.
- The presence of ads in the app may be annoying to some users, and the option to make in-app purchases, with prices ranging from $12.99 to $129.99, may be perceived as aggressive monetization.
- The app's lack of offline capability may be a drawback for users who want to access tournament information without an internet connection, which could be a problem in areas with poor connectivity.
- Some users may be concerned about the app's data collection practices, given its connection to a large media conglomerate like Disney, and the potential for targeted advertising.
Best for: The ideal user for the ESPN Tournament Challenge app is a sports enthusiast, likely between the ages of 18 and 50, who is interested in college basketball and wants to stay up-to-date on the latest NCAA Tournament news, scores, and brackets, with a moderate level of technical skill and a willingness to navigate a feature-rich app.

I love this App. Every year I use it when creating my group and playing with all my family and friends. It's great at tracking who is winning and showing potential points you can still obtain all in real time. It's great.
EDIT: updating this review to say this app runs much better now. For YEARS it was a buggy piece of you know what. Now it runs pretty smoothly and I don't get bombarded with notifications like before that you couldn't turn off no matter how hard you tried to change the settings.
ESPN, please go back to the vertical layout on bracketcast like the old version as that was much easier to see. I'm pretty sure the old version listed the channel the game was on. This went from being the go-to app when watching the tournament to not being nearly as useful.
I've used this App for at least four years. This years design and interface is by far the worst. It used to be more convenient to use this app to follow games and scores. It's slow now and the screens don't fit well on one page... So now I just switch to CBS sports to check the scores and only come here to see how bad my bracket is doing.
Buggy, laggy, have to force quit often. Takes forever to start up and log in to the app. Not sure why this is. Works fine on my Apple devices, but on Android has always been terrible user experience. on my third different phone and the experience is the same. I honestly don't know why I keep using this one instead of one of the other options. I do like the analysis and the ease of setting up a group, but next year I think I'll find a different option.
