I am dyslexic and so not a fan of word games, but this one I really like. You can drag your finger around looking for words. There are explosions, monkeys, lost or trapped anthropomorphic inanimate and animate things, intrigue, and a creepy Scooby style mad scientist. There is a lot of variety in new impediments, requiring ever changing strategies. My wife and I installed this almost 2 weeks ago? Anyway, we have both neglected our shows, because neither of us can put down this darn game!
Overall this game is a lot of fun. The story is odd, but enjoyable enough to keep me playing through the (for me) ridiculously difficult levels. Most levels are pretty easy to pass, but some seriously are difficult to juggle all the aspects required of them at the same time, while staying under the turn limit. Overall fun experience.
I LOVE the Quell series so immediately decided to try this solely bc it's the same dev. I think I'm probably going to enjoy this game, but so far, I'm experiencing a glitch when I click story mode, the chapters immediately begin scrolling down and I can't scroll back up. I have to immediately click on my level or it will auto scroll. Some other UI screens are jumpy like that also. The gameplay itself, so far, is great!
I would like to rate higher, since I was finding interest in this game to kill time (I loved the original bookworm game on iOS from Popcap). I was still playing today in the metro, went home, had dinner, relaunched the game to continue - all my progress was gone, story mode is back to 'training day'. It was only a few days worth of play lost, but still annoying. Otherwise gameplay is nice. Being able to use the characters as 'bridges' to reach more letters is cool. But I am probably done!
Actually loved this game. Challenged myself 3 star ever level of the story mode. Which I finally did. So happy. It said I had incomplete challenges/achievements. Which l was looking forward to try to beat. Then I log on the next day and the story mode has reset!! Absolutely gutted!!!!! Went from a 5* review to a 1* review as it's cleared it and shows me back at start
