Off the Rails™ v1.9
Dan Russell-PinsonAbout this app
Off the Rails is a unique educational game that solves the problem of making learning fun by allowing users to build roller coasters through simple screen tilts, benefiting children and young adults who enjoy physics and engineering. Compared to alternatives in the Game Educational category, Off the Rails stands out with its excellent user rating of 4.7/5 and a paid model without ads or in-app purchases, ensuring an uninterrupted learning experience. However, its limited download numbers and lack of developer website may raise concerns about long-term support and updates. Overall, the app's innovative approach to learning makes it a valuable resource for those interested in STEM education.
Pros
- With a high user rating of 4.7/5 and over 1,000 downloads, Off the Rails demonstrates a strong social proof and a well-designed user experience that is both fun and educational.
- The app's paid model without ads or in-app purchases ensures that users can focus on learning without interruptions, making it an excellent choice for parents and educators seeking ad-free content.
- The simple yet engaging gameplay allows users to build roller coasters by tilting their screens, making it an accessible and enjoyable experience for a wide range of users, including those with limited technical skills.
- The app's offline capability and lack of permission requests ensure that users can play and learn without worrying about data usage or privacy concerns, making it a great option for those with limited internet access.
Cons
- One concern is the limited download numbers, which may indicate a smaller user base and potentially less community support or updates in the future, although the excellent user rating suggests a dedicated user base.
- The lack of a developer website and limited information about the developer may raise concerns about long-term support and updates, although the email contact provided may help address user concerns.
- The app's limited features and gameplay may become repetitive over time, potentially leading to user boredom and a desire for more complex or varied content, although the core concept remains engaging and educational.
Best for: The ideal user for Off the Rails is a student or young adult with an interest in physics, engineering, or STEM education, who is looking for a fun and interactive way to learn about these subjects, and has a basic understanding of Android devices and touchscreen interfaces, making it an excellent resource for parents, educators, and students alike.

I love how you can make your own roller coasters!
Really wanted to try this, looked like fun. After I entered my name, it would not load any further. Using a Samsung tablet. I will try another time and hope it is fixed!😩
Make it so you can put your tracks online have other people play it and see what its like.instead of the people you're with watch you play your hole roller coaster. Please make this in a further update. Please please please please.
