A Google user

Save yourself a headache, don't go around looking like an obvious tourist in Santo Domingo, if you must walk, do it only in large groups, and don't flash around valuables like a smartphone. Also, Plaza Naco hasn't been a popular place to shop since the great fire, about 20 years ago, there are many much better malls now (none mentioned in the outdated info), most of the sites in the colonial city are really worth it, except El Conde Avenue, which nowadays is nothing but a tourist trap, used to be cool.
