Grim Omens - Old School RPG v1.4.13
MonomythAbout this app
Developer Description
A story-rich turn-based RPG | Be a vampire in a dark fantasy world (offline)
The game combines classic dungeon crawling, familiar turn-based combat, and various roguelike and tabletop elements to create an accessible old-school RPG experience. It relies on written storytelling and hand-drawn artwork to immerse you into its world, often feeling similar to a solo a DnD (Dungeons & Dragons) campaign or even a Choose Your Own Adventure book.
The 3rd entry in the Grim series, Grim Omens, is a standalone sequel to Grim Quest. It refines the established formula of Grim Quest and Grim Tides, all the while offering an intricate story and detailed lore that ties in with other games in Grim series in strange and unexpected ways. Even so, you can play it without any previous experience or knowledge of the series.
The monetization model is a freemium one, which means you can play the game with a few ads, or you can get rid of them, permanently and completely with a one-time purchase, effectively buying the game. No other purchases are required.

A simple concept that's far deeper than you would originally think. Not so deep that you need tons of focus, but enough to be engaging. Creating your own builds can sometimes be challenging if you don't realise how important skills and spells are, but that's part of the learning process! Highly suggest it and can't wait to buy the others too. Worth removing the ads (not intrusive at all) just to support the developer!
Love the game, has lots of fun combinations possible, although there may be some balancing needed. It's way more difficult the tides or quest, but what makes it even harder for me is that for some reason I can't get the ads to play for the wages... please fix it. :( I'd love to pay for ads-free IAP, but I was hoping it could be around $5.00 or so. If there were a sale on it, I'll definitely buy it.
I like the game and am at black marsh level 13, so not far. that said, I feel like the storytelling has too much world building and not enough story. Maybe it gets more interesting later but I am on the fence about continuing.
Part of a great series, but there's absolutely nothing to relate to and the entire atmosphere is pointlessly grim with no positivity or hope anywhere. The highest difficultly is utterly broken, with the first boss doing half your health in a single regular attack. Enemies regular critical against you and I've had six misses in a row despite having focused on the accuracy stat. Just not fun in any way, sorry.
What is the point of this game. Upside its not microtransaction like. Everything is fine but the combat just...
