amazing
pay to win
This is such a cute game and going ad-free is reasonably priced. But the progression mechanics are way too complicated for me for it to be enjoyable. I tried to count how many progression systems there are and it's maybe like 14 or more. Heroes, brands, artifacts, mounts, armor, gear, gear materials, etc, etc etc. and that's not even counting all of the non-stop event progressions. And there's 20+ currencies for God's sake. It's just too much for me.
I've been playing this game for about three to four months now, and while I do find it to be quite enjoyable overall, I do have to admit that it really seems to rely on you having to pay money up front if you want to actually make any meaningful progress and reach the later stages. And sadly, this particular aspect really pushes the cost up pretty significantly.
Originally had this rated at 5 stars. I'd give it 0 if I could now. In the almost a year that I've played, it's transitioned from a fun accessible game into a forced pay to play whale fest. This new "Christmas" TMNT phase 3 event is the literal worst they've ever slopped out to us. 2 new extremely powerful heroes that you're forced to spend upwards of $1000 US to get in any usable state, and bonus, this event is the only time to ever acquire them! Absolutely insulting way to celebrate Christmas.
