Control Your Honda Generators

Honda “My Generator” smartphone application is for use only with Honda generators equipped with Bluetooth® technology. The application is able to do the following convenient functions:

• Remote start/stop:
Can start or stop the generator engine from a distance (remote starting requires electric start capability)

• Remote monitoring:
Displays power output level and remaining fuel level (fuel level is only for models that have a fuel sensor)

• Receive notifications:
Can receive error and maintenance alerts

A little buggy. After pairing by scanning the QR code, worked flawlessly for the first run, but the app struggled to show VA output or hours of run time after that. Tried clearing cache, but didn't work. Unpaired the generator from my Bluetooth menu, and then opened the app, app prompted me to pair, selected yes, re-paired instantly without needing to re-scan the QR code or restart the generator like the first time, and everything worked again. We'll see how it goes from here.

The app is just okay. App does not seem to reconnect to the generator when I restart it, so I need to reregister the generator each start. This resets all the maintenance trackers making them effectively useless. The Bluetooth range is pretty atrocious and walking behind any form of water even within 25 ft of the generator the connection to the generator drops. With no fuel sensor, such poor range, and lack of remote start, the app feels like a poorly planned gimmick.

If you are connected to a generator and walk out of range and the bluetooth disconnects, and then you walk back into range, the APP REFUSES TO RE-CONNECT, even with cycling the bluetooth on the phone off and on again. Rebooting the phone WILL allow it to reconnect, but that is ridiculous. A third party Bluetooth scanning app shows the generator bluetooth is ACTIVE, but the APP will NOT reconnect. It does this with BOTH generators I have. Not a good way to do things, HONDA.
