The Rosary is a mode of prayer that we can all practice.
The Rosary is perhaps the prayer that most represents Catholics, as it unites us to the life of Jesus through the eyes of Mary, the Virgin.
**** The Sorrowful Mysteries ****
(Tuesday and Friday)
1- The Agony in the Garden
(Lk 22, 39-46)
"Jesus goes with them to a property called Gethsemane, and says to the disciples: Sit here, while I go there to pray. And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to feel sadness and anguish. And moving forward a little, He fell face down on the ground, "and said:" Father if you want, take this cup away from me, but not my will but yours be done. "And sunk in agony, he insisted more on his prayer. His sweat became like drops of blood falling on the ground "(Mt 26, 36-37; Lk 22, 41-44).
2- The Flagellation of Our Lord Jesus Christ
(Jn 18, 33, 19; 1)
(Pilate) "went back to the Jews and said to them: I find no crime in him (...). Do you want me to release the King of the Jews to you? They shouted again saying: Not him, Barabbas! (...) Pilate then took Jesus and had him flogged. "
3- The Crowning with Thorns
(Mt 27, 29-30)
The soldiers "plaiting a crown of thorns, put it on his head, and in his right hand a reed; and bending the knee in front of him, they made fun of him saying: Hail, King of the Jews !; and after spitting on him , they took the cane and hit him on the head. "
4- Jesus Christ, the cross on his back and on the way to Calvary.
(Mt, 27, 31; Jn 19, 17; Mk 15, 21)
"When they had mocked him, they took off his cloak, put his clothes on him and took him to crucify him." "And he, carrying his cross, went out to the place called Calvary." "And they forced one who was passing by, Simon of Cyrene, (...) to carry his cross."
5- The Crucifixion and Death of Our Lord
(Lk 23, 33-34, 44-46; Jn 19, 33-35)
"When they arrived at the place called Calvary, they crucified him. (...) Jesus said: Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing (...). It was already close to the sixth hour when, when the sun was eclipsing, there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour (...). Jesus, giving a loud cry, said: Father, into your hands I commend my spirit and, having said this, he expired. " "As they saw him dead, they did not break his legs, but one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear and immediately blood and water came out."
