It is fun but after getting all of the upgrades the game just restarted and I lost everything. Is this a glitch or a game flaw?

it's a great game for killing the hours and good it's offline too. but every few days I get on it and see my progress has gone. I don't know why I don't press restart but I start at the beginning of the game again.
