Nadiya - A Quest For A Safer Place - is a free app that gives families affected by trauma the power to thrive in difficult times.

It's a sanctuary where parents and carers of children can find well-designed, fun, and easy-to-use resources to help make life’s biggest challenges feel a little less scary.

In just 14 days, you and your child can learn to find calm in the middle of a storm, be kinder to yourselves and others, have difficult conversations and find hope when everything feels hopeless.

Nadiya gives you and your child the skills you need to guide you through these darker moments.

In the game, you and your child will be transported into a magical woodland realm, where you’ll help the guardian of the forest defeat the Troublesome Spirit. Together, you’ll help Nadiya - a frightened little girl who transformed herself into a tree - to heal, and you’ll restore the rest of the forest so it’s safe again.

To advance through the world, you and your child will complete daily check-ins about how each of you is feeling and collect special charms, which are earned through simple therapeutic games and exercises - designed by experts in child psychology and trauma - that will help you both to build your inner strength, cultivating important qualities such as compassion, courage, and calm. Upon completing these tasks, you’ll then create a special healing potion that’ll transform the clearing of the forest into a magical garden that you’ll take care of together. As you do this, you’ll strengthen your relationships as a family, learn how to be kinder to yourselves and others, become more confident in your ability to navigate difficult times, and rediscover hope.

The app has been created by Apart of Me, an award-winning charity dedicated to supporting children through loss and trauma by integrating world renowned clinical expertise with innovative design. We specialise in designing products that help children and families through the most difficult challenges in life. Nadiya was developed in collaboration with Compass Pathways, Voices of Children, and the International Association Of Psychologists For Grief And Severe Loss.
