About this app
Compute Z-score, tail p-values, and two-tailed confidence level
The Z-score Calculator helps you understand how unusual or extreme a result is compared to an expected average. It takes an observed value, the average value, and the spread of the data, then expresses how many standard deviations the result is away from the average.
From this, the calculator provides probabilities called p-values:
The left-tailed p-value shows the probability of observing a result less than or equal to the given value.
The right-tailed p-value shows the probability of observing a result greater than or equal to the given value.
The two-tailed p-value shows the probability of observing a result at least as extreme as the given value in either direction.
It also calculates the two-tailed confidence level, which indicates how much of the data is expected to fall within the range defined by the observed result.
This tool is useful for statistical testing, hypothesis evaluation, and measuring how far a specific observation deviates from the average under the assumption of a normal distribution.
