About this app
ResilientWoodsHole - ensuring Woods Hole prospers into the future.
ResilientWoodsHole (RWH) is an initiative to ensure Woods Hole prospers well into the future with the advent of major climate impacts such as coastal flooding and sea level rise.
The ResilientWoodsHole (RWH) Climate Walking Trail was developed as one of RWH's Outreach and Engagement initiatives. The goals of the trail are to demonstrate the vulnerabilities of Woods Hole Village to sea level rise and coastal storm flooding, present town and institution climate resilience planning, and discuss other adaptation solutions to help protect Woods Hole from climate-related impacts.
Woods Hole Village has experienced sea level rise by about 10 inches from 1932-2020, and this trend is predicted to accelerate. The Village is also highly vulnerable to coastal storm flooding. It is projected that the whole village will be impacted by flooding on an annual basis by 2070.
In this tour, you will hear leaders in the RWH partner organizations and Woods Hole Village community members discuss their experiences with climate change and some climate resilience projects that are underway in the Village. You will also learn about the history of Woods Hole, view climate change projections, analyze some adaptation solution charts, and view current and historic images. If you have any feedback or questions about the trail or RWH, get in touch with us by using the Contact tab below.
