Since 2020-2021 World Athletics as well as other federations such as European Athletics have integrated a new ranking system for athletes to qualify for major championships. This new system takes in account a number of your best performances as well as the category of the competitions they were done at, as well as a few other rules.
To know how you position yourself at world level or in this new ranking system is not as easy as looking up your performance in the top lists. Now you need to calculate the points equivalent to your performance, plus placement points for competition category, plus wind points (if applicable). You can also include similar events so indoor and outdoor performances can be combined to get a better score.
