Developer Description
Sign-assisted communication
The GuK app was developed for caregivers and professionals who support children as they begin to use spoken language – whether at home, in early childhood education, daycare, or in speech therapy.
It is based on the method of Sign-Supported Communication (GuK) developed by Prof. em. Etta Wilken, in which individual terms are accompanied by supporting hand signals.
This facilitates understanding and helps children communicate – often long before they can speak themselves.
The app contains more than 200 signs that accompany spoken language in the form of short video sequences.
Signs can be searched by topic or alphabetically, organized into custom lists, shared, or printed.
A quiz and practice mode allows for playful repetition. Traditional children's songs with the corresponding signs are also included.
The clear design and intuitive operation make the app easy to use both in everyday life and in professional settings.
The app offers a free start with a selection of sign languages. Additional packages can be added at will.
