SunCalc org v4.5
Torsten HoffmannAbout this app
SunCalc org solves the problem of determining the sun's path and position for various locations and times, benefiting photographers, architects, and outdoor enthusiasts who require precise solar data. Compared to other tools in the category, SunCalc org stands out with its simplicity and accuracy, leveraging the reputation of the popular website suncalc.org. However, its limited feature set might make it less appealing to users seeking more comprehensive tools. The app's excellent user rating and moderate download numbers indicate a dedicated user base.
Pros
- With over 500,000 downloads and an excellent user rating of 4.6/5, SunCalc org demonstrates a high level of social proof and user satisfaction, indicating a well-designed and functional app.
- The app's lack of permissions requests is a significant advantage, ensuring that users' data and device security are not compromised, which is a rare trait in many modern apps.
- The developer's reputation, as evidenced by the provided website and email, suggests a commitment to transparency and accountability, which can increase user trust in the app.
- SunCalc org's offline capability, implied by the lack of internet permissions, makes it accessible in areas with poor connectivity, enhancing its usability for outdoor activities.
- The app's simplicity and focus on a specific task result in a streamlined user experience, reducing clutter and making it easier for users to achieve their goals.
Cons
- The limited feature set of SunCalc org might be a drawback for users who require more comprehensive tools for their solar calculations, potentially forcing them to use multiple apps.
- Although the app is free and ad-free, the lack of a clear monetization strategy might raise concerns about the developer's long-term commitment to maintaining and updating the app.
- The app's compatibility with devices requiring Android 5.0 or higher might exclude some older devices, limiting its accessibility to users with newer smartphones.
- There is a potential for user complaints regarding the app's simplicity, as some users might expect more features or functionalities beyond the basic solar calculations.
Best for: The ideal user for SunCalc org is likely an individual with a specific need for solar path calculations, such as a professional photographer seeking to plan shoots based on optimal lighting conditions, an architect designing buildings with consideration for natural light, or an outdoor enthusiast planning activities around sunrise and sunset times, who values simplicity, accuracy, and ease of use in their toolset.

SunCalc org users say on Google Play
it's so good, any time of the year, any hour, any minute, in the future or past, I can view the sun's path and it's angles, as it travels over my house, or any location, for free, simply amazing!! easy to use, no nonsense, no pop-ups or ads... wow
It took a few tries to understand what the app was showing me. It would be much better if we could add man made structures that will block our sun. For example, a 6 ft fence on south side of a shallow lot.
When I am trying to use Satellite view then it says only "Map data not yet available".
Other reviews have discussed this, but it's missing a lot of useful features.
horrid sat images. not a lot of info.
