Fast Cards v1.1.5
Don NaipeAbout this app
Fast Cards by Don Naipe solves the problem of finding a simple yet engaging card game experience, particularly for fans of Spit and Speed card games. This app benefits casual gamers looking for quick entertainment without complex rules or steep learning curves. Compared to other Game Card category apps, Fast Cards stands out with its focused implementation of two specific games, though it falls short in terms of overall game variety. Its straightforward approach and minimalistic design make it appealing to those seeking uncomplicated fun.
Pros
- Fast Cards boasts a clean and intuitive interface, making it easily accessible to a wide range of users, including those who are not tech-savvy.
- The app's small size and lack of required permissions suggest a lightweight and privacy-conscious design, which is a significant advantage for users concerned about data security.
- With in-app purchases available at a relatively low price point of $1.49 per item, users have the option to enhance their experience without a significant financial commitment.
- The developer, Don Naipe, provides a clear point of contact through their website and email, indicating a level of commitment to user support and feedback.
- Given its offline capability implied by the absence of internet permissions, Fast Cards can be enjoyed anywhere, making it a great companion for commutes or areas with poor internet connectivity.
Cons
- The lack of user rating data and limited download numbers may raise concerns about the app's popularity and the size of its community, potentially impacting multiplayer aspects or the motivation to continue developing the app.
- The presence of ads in a game that also offers in-app purchases might lead to a less seamless user experience, as users may feel prompted to spend money to avoid advertisements.
- The app's limited game selection, focusing only on Spit and Speed card games, might not be enough to keep users engaged long-term, especially when compared to more versatile card game apps.
- Without a clear update history, it's uncertain how frequently the app will receive updates, fixes, or new content, which could affect its long-term appeal and performance.
Best for: The ideal user for Fast Cards is a casual gamer, likely within the teen to young adult age range, who enjoys card games and is looking for a simple, easy-to-learn experience that can be played in short sessions, with a preference for offline capability and minimal complexity.
Developer Description
Tremendous implementation of the Spit and Speed card games by Don Naipe
Each player has a hand of four cards faced up that can be played onto either of the two spit piles. To play a card on a spit pile it has to be next in sequence up or down. For example, if there is an ace in a spit pile, a king or a two can be played (the suit does not matter).
If neither player can make a movement, each turns up their next spit card and places it on top of the spit pile they started. Play then continues as before.
If a player has no more spit cards in his/her pile, then the other player spits alone on only one spit pile. The player can choose either pile, but having chosen, must continue to spit on that pile whenever no play is possible until one player runs out of stock cards.
Fast Cards employs the Spanish card deck, more colourful and vivid than the French card deck. The essence of the Spit and Speed is not missed at all; just notice that the sequence of cards is the following: ace, two, three, four, five, six, seven, jack (sota), horse (caballo) and king (rey).
Fast Cards is very versatile and configurable, allowing the following options:
* Game: "speed" or "spit". The layout changes with the type of game. In the speed variant, each player has a single face down stockpile that is used to replace his/her hand (up to 4 cards) and to feed the spit piles. In the spit variant, each player has four stock piles in a row that can be turned up once there is no other card on top.
* Mode: "challenge" or "survival". In challenge mode you have to try to win the bot in a game. In survival mode the speed of the bot will be increased with each new level.
* Speed: parametrize the speed of the bot, ranging from "snail" to "lightning". In challenge mode the speed will be kept the same, while in survival mode it will be increased with each new level.
* Artificial intelligence: "average" or "good". In the former case, the behavior of the bot is simpler, it will just try to play its cards minimizing the distance moved. In the latter case, the bot is more cunning and it will consider the opponents' cards in order to make a movement.
* Sound: on or off
Fast Cards is available for every Android mobile or tablet (Android version 3.0 or upper).

To enhance privacy, users can consider using the app in airplane mode when internet access is not necessary, though this might not be applicable if online features are introduced in future updates.
