About this app
An educational tool for working on precise and rapid reading in first grade.
DESCRIPTION
Through 40 activity sheets, the Fluency Reading Workshops workbook allows first graders to learn how to work on reading accurately and quickly.
Each sheet is focused more particularly on one or more grapheme(s) and broken down into two levels:
- Level 1: alternation of color (letters or syllables depending on reading activities); gray silent letters; tool words underlined until the student knows how to decode them.
- Level 2: gray silent letters; tool words underlined until the student knows how to decode them.
Several types of activities are offered:
1- Exercise sheets (sheets A and B)
These 40 sheets are built around 8 exercises, to automate and consolidate the reading of graphemes:
- 4 progressive fluency exercises: reading graphemes, reading syllables, reading words, reading fully decipherable sentences.
The number of graphemes, syllables or words is indicated at the beginning of each line. A space to the right of each exercise allows the teacher to note the number of words correctly read by the student.
- 4 reading games: association of a sound with its writing, visual recognition of syllables, recognition and writing of syllables, reading and illustration of a fully decipherable sentence to work on comprehension and learn to construct a mental image.
2- Bonus sheets
These sheets suggest reinvesting your knowledge in a different way with:
- 8 assessment sheets: expansive sentences at the start of the year to work on reading in groups of words, then a short text to read based on the model of national assessments. Each sheet is available in two levels.
- 8 game sheets, to be done independently, alone or in a group: dominoes, magic coloring, syllable associations, board games.
The assessment sheets are designed to allow the teacher to evaluate each of their students at different stages of the year. Each assessment is an opportunity to take stock of the students' achievements and needs in order to then offer them the most suitable level. During these evaluation times, other students can work independently on the game sheets which allow them to consolidate their knowledge.
Goals :
- Improved grapheme identification
- Automated syllable and word recognition
- Improved reading speed and fluency
- Assessment of understanding in the best conditions
