Naumburg is one of the most beautiful cities in Central Germany. The city was first mentioned in a document in 1028 and thus looks back on a history of about 1000 years. As today's district town it has over 30,000 inhabitants and is located in the wine region Saale-Unstrut. This tourist region is also called the "land of wine and stone" and has many historical treasures to offer. Above all, the famous founder figure Uta in the Naumburg Cathedral, the most important building from the High Middle Ages. It was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2018. The former home of the 72-meter-high tower of the Church of St. Wenceslas promises the best view over the old town. The church also houses the largest Bach organ in the world, which offers musical highlights all year round. The next cultural stop will be at Germany's smallest municipal theater, a former puppet theater that has evolved over the decades into an ensemble theater. In one of the oldest streets in Naumburg, the 133-year-old brush factory catches the eye - a truly unique piece that has even been mentioned in the New York Times. Also unique is the "Wilde Zicke", as the people of Naumburg smilingly call their streetcar, which, even in regular service, travels exclusively in historic vehicles. The cars embody all types of vehicles manufactured in the GDR and make the special charm of Naumburg literally tangible on "historic tracks".
