Merlin
The charismatic leader of the terrorist organization Ravens of Dawn. Known as the Crimson Despair, he is a genius magician who can wield nearly any spell except self-enhancement magic. His true mastery lies in fire magic. Beneath his bangs lies a burn—and a forbidden magic eye that allows him to cast instantly.
He believes only evil can destroy evil and takes justice into his own hands. Though merciless toward those who harm innocents, he deeply cares for his subordinates, even forgiving betrayal. A former colleague of Liam, he seeks peace through the power of darkness.

Fay
Merlin’s right hand and familiar. Wry and laid-back, Fay prefers to do things his own way but is fiercely loyal to Merlin, whom he has sworn to serve for life. A half-beast with canine ears from another realm, Fay’s only magic is self-enhancement—but it grants him superhuman speed and strength. In battle, his calm demeanor gives way to a berserker fury that leaves no foe standing.

Liam
A rising star of the Unified Constabulary, Liam is an intelligent and capable officer who rivals Merlin in power, though his specialty is ice magic. Nicknamed the Embodiment of Justice by his superior, Shade—a title he detests—Liam hides a deep passion beneath his composed exterior.
He believes in achieving change through righteousness, standing opposite to Merlin’s philosophy of peace through evil.
