SumoChess is a free app offering a Chess variant created by avid Chess players, looking for a twist in the rules that would add fun and novelty to the traditional Chess game.
In SumoChess you can only take pieces by pushing them off the board. Only the king can still take. That makes it more complex and intense than chess, as most of your pieces stay active, and you can have fun playing tricky moves by a well-placed push

Very nice variant. Very challenging AI, a lot of fun. A couple of issues spoil it though. Firstly, if I switch apps, when I come back to it all I see is a black screen, with no way to continue the game. When this happens the only way I can fix it is to force close the app and start again. The other thing is, there's no way to save a game which is needed really since some of these games can be quite long. EDIT: No response to my email to the dev. regarding these issues. That's a shame.
