About this app

The Poet Assistant app solves the problem of finding the right words and rhymes for writers and poets, benefiting most those who need a reliable English rhyming dictionary, thesaurus, and dictionary. Compared to alternatives in the Books And Reference category, Poet Assistant stands out with its simple editor and playback features, making it a valuable tool for creative writing. However, its lack of permissions requests and minimalistic approach may also limit its functionality compared to more comprehensive writing tools. Overall, Poet Assistant's excellent user rating and moderate download numbers indicate a well-regarded and useful app.

Pros

  • With over 500,000 downloads and an excellent user rating of 4.6/5, Poet Assistant has demonstrated its value and reliability to a significant number of users, providing social proof of its effectiveness.
  • The app's offline capability and lack of permissions requests make it a secure and private option for writers who value their data protection and don't want to compromise their device's security.
  • Poet Assistant's simple and intuitive interface, combined with its comprehensive English rhyming dictionary and thesaurus, make it an accessible tool for writers of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals.
  • The developer's reputation, as indicated by their website and email contact, suggests a commitment to supporting and updating the app, which is reassuring for users who expect ongoing improvements and bug fixes.
  • The absence of ads and in-app purchases ensures an uninterrupted writing experience, allowing users to focus on their creative work without distractions or financial pressures.

Cons

  • One potential concern is the app's limited feature set compared to more comprehensive writing tools, which may not be suitable for users who require advanced features such as grammar checking, plagiarism detection, or collaboration tools.
  • Although the app has a high user rating, some users may find the lack of updates or new features to be a drawback, potentially indicating a lack of ongoing development or support.
  • The app's size and Android requirement variability may lead to compatibility issues on certain devices, which could affect performance and user experience.
  • Some users may find the app's minimalistic approach to be too basic, particularly if they are accustomed to more feature-rich writing tools or require specific functionalities not provided by Poet Assistant.

Best for: The ideal user for Poet Assistant is a writer or poet who requires a reliable and easy-to-use English rhyming dictionary, thesaurus, and dictionary, and values a secure and private writing experience, likely including students, professionals, and hobbyists who need to produce creative writing, such as poetry, songs, or stories, and are looking for a minimalistic yet effective tool to support their work.

Been using this app for 6 years now without issue or complaint. It's very heplful for writing lyrics just as it is to quickly search up a new word while reading and get a good understanding on it. The app is well laid out having tabs for rhymes, synonyms/antonyms, and definitions for the searched word in any way the word can be used (adjective, noun, etc.) It also has a neat Word of the Day tab that can only be accessed via a drop-down menu, which I like because it keeps the "home page" clean.

love the offline factor, it's a dictionary, thesaurus, and rhymer all in one which is awesome. don't EVER press backspace unless you want to exit the app because that's all that does. doesn't bother me much but does annoy other people. NO ADS! even when you're online, YAY! looking up any words in another language is pointless and that includes most names. bit of a bummer but it does kinda say that in the app name

Rhyming dictionary is good. Ordinary dictionary is basic. Thesaurus is pretty patchy. Some words are fine some are pretty poor. Synonyms of made? Well er there's ready-made, how's about that fella? How about: manufactured, constructed, fabricated, crafted, created, brought about, fashioned, moulded...

Another glorified notepad. It counts words and characters. Not syllables. It doesn't show me the structure of a sonnet. Thanks, I'll just use a notepad, then
