About this app

Protect your camp and sink the opposing fleet in a table tennis match!

Naval Pong is an application designed to transform learning table tennis into a fun and strategic challenge, developing students' ball placement accuracy and their ability to tactically exploit playing areas.
Main Objective: To help students adjust their trajectories to become efficient attackers/defenders depending on the targets.
Pedagogical Differentiation: The application allows for adjustable difficulty through its game modes, thus adapting to all grade levels and skill levels (from middle school to high school).

The table tennis table is divided into a number of playing areas to reach (depending on the configuration).

Features and Educational Benefits:
Defensive Strategy Management (Positioning): Each player (Admiral) virtually positions their fleet in the areas of their own camp that they must defend:
An Aircraft Carrier
A Cruiser
A Submarine. This initial choice is a major strategic decision. (It is possible to change the position of the boats during the match.)

2. Resistance Modes (Differentiation and Intensity) The instructor chooses the game mode to calibrate the intensity of the exchange:
Mode 1 (Express): One hit is enough to sink any boat. Ideal for introducing precision.

Mode 2 (Hit and Sink): Requires two hits to sink a ship. Encourages persistence and pressure management.

Mode 3 (Variable Resistance): The boats have a resistance that corresponds to their value: 1 hit (Submarine), 2 hits (Cruiser), 3 hits (Aircraft Carrier). This mode complicates tactical decision-making (targeting the most vulnerable or the most profitable).

3. Enhancing Efficiency (Tactical Strike) The application offers the option to activate Tactical Strike. When a boat is hit by a shot that puts the opponent out of range (ball not touched), the impact is twofold. This educational tool emphasizes efficiency rather than mere consistency.

Classroom Use (Referee's Role)

The referee (a student) uses the application's interface to validate points:
Points in Zones: A simple tap on the hit zone scores the point for the attacker and removes the corresponding "life" from the opposing boat.
Points Out of Zone/Faults: A tap on the opposing Admiral's button awards a point for a fault (missed serve, ball out, etc.).

Benefits for the Student: Commitment, Strategy, and Autonomy

Adapting the "Battleship" principle to table tennis significantly increases student motivation and engagement. The thematic format makes the targeting exercise immediately more meaningful.

The student is placed at the heart of the game and is encouraged to:

Develop tactical thinking: Positioning their "ships" (targets to defend) forces them to consider the vulnerabilities of their own strategy.

Master precision: Success depends on their ability to reach the opponent's strategic zones.
Gain autonomy: Students manage the game themselves via the application, thus promoting co-refereeing and taking responsibility for organizing the game.
