Bookclubs: Book Club Organizer v3.0.79
BookclubsAbout this app
The Bookclubs: Book Club Organizer app solves the problem of disorganization and lack of structure in book clubs, benefiting readers and book club leaders who want to stay on track and discuss books effectively. Compared to alternatives in the Education category, this app stands out with its high user rating and simple, intuitive interface. However, it falls short in terms of customization options and advanced features. The app's focus on reading and discussion makes it a great tool for book lovers, but its limitations may deter power users.
Pros
- The app has an excellent user rating of 4.6/5, indicating a high level of user satisfaction and social proof, with over 100,000 downloads.
- The app's simple and intuitive interface makes it easy to use, even for those who are not tech-savvy, allowing users to focus on reading and discussing books.
- The developer, Bookclubs, has a professional website and email, indicating a level of commitment to the app and its users, and providing a clear channel for support and feedback.
- The app is free to download, with in-app purchases available for additional features, making it accessible to a wide range of users, and the lack of ads enhances the user experience.
- The app's offline capability and minimal permissions make it a secure and private option for book club organization, allowing users to access their data even without an internet connection.
Cons
- The app's monetization model, with in-app purchases ranging from $1.99 to $229.99, may be seen as aggressive or expensive by some users, potentially limiting access to advanced features.
- The app's limited customization options and lack of advanced features may deter power users or those who want more control over their book club experience, potentially leading to user frustration.
- Some users may experience issues with the app's performance or compatibility with certain devices, although the developer's commitment to updates and support may mitigate these concerns.
- The app's focus on reading and discussion may not be suitable for all types of book clubs or users, potentially limiting its appeal to a specific niche.
Best for: The ideal user for the Bookclubs app is a book club leader or member who values organization and structure, is looking for a simple and intuitive interface, and wants to stay focused on reading and discussing books, likely someone who is moderately tech-savvy and values community and discussion.

The app is really easy to use and helpful in keeping a book club organized. I am using the free version I may be tempted to update to premium version if our group grows larger and I need more functions. It was easy to invite members to join and everyone seemed willing to create an account to sign up. This is the first time I run a bookclub and this app was easy to use for a first time organizer.
The app is super cool. A lot of the features are very helpful for me who's looking to find bookclubs with my interests. My feedback: 1. Filter by number of recommendations sorts incorrectly. 2. Join a bookclub reading this book- Doesn't accurately show at all times 3. When a book is added more than once in 'Books I want to Read', a message needs to pop up saying 'Already added'
I was recommended this app by a friend, and while I think there's parts which could definitely be an improvement for us (especially around tracking previously read and potential books), I'm not confident I'll be able to convince people to actually use it. We can only make ONE upcoming meeting with the free version is a major letdown. The paywall is pretty steeply priced for what we want to use this for when our current process is free. Has some usability challenges too which could be improved.
Updated: Dropping my review to two stars, having discovered that I no longer can set an annual reading goal without a subscription. Add that to the fact there is no allowance in the app made for books read more than once. It would be great to be able to add multiple dates-read to books so they count towards yearly totals year over year. Guess I'm starting over looking for an app useful to my personal needs.
I want it to work so very badly for my little book club. But try as I might I can't get everyone to use it because it isn't the best designed UI in the first place, but worse, it acts wonky a lot. People can't log in, people don't get notifications as per settings, messages are posted out of order, a member just posted a message as herself and the app says it was posted by anonymous. I'm so sad it doesn't work.
