EcosiaAbout this app
Developer Description
Plant trees as you browse. Over 230 million trees planted
Ecosia is more than just a search engine β itβs a simple way to take climate action every day. Just by browsing the internet, you can help plant trees in biodiversity hotspots, support local communities, and combat climate change.
π³ Search with purpose
Like other search engines, Ecosia earns money from ads. But unlike them, we use 100% of our profits to fund climate action. Over 230 million trees have already been planted across 35+ countries, restoring landscapes and saving wildlife.
π Your data stays yours
We only collect what's needed to deliver search results, and your searches are always encrypted. β We want trees, not your data.
β‘ Powered by the Sun
Ecosia runs on renewable energy. In fact, our solar plants generate twice the electricity we need to power your searches β pushing out fossil fuels from the electricity grid.
π Climate positive & transparent
As a not-for-profit, steward-owned company, we publish monthly financial reports that show you exactly where your clicks go β toward real, measurable climate impact.
Download Ecosia and join a global community of millions taking meaningful action for the planet, one search at a time.

Ecosia: Search to plant trees users say on Google Play
Edit: They have an auto answer engine and the picture download quality has been fixed, but the high quality isn't visible from the site. Still, 5 stars! Original: I love this app a lot but I really wish they'd improve the quality of images and not have them scaled down when picked on. The app is great and I love the mission so I'll give it 5 stars but until it has the auto answer engine (using the sites it leads you to) and fixes the picture quality, I'd consider it a 4 star app
please make the address bar completely disappear when websites are installed as apps. brave does a great job at this. when installed apps, websites should behave like apps, not as web browsers. it's an otherwise a very good experience, on top of that good ethical foundation which I absolutely love
Although i love the concept and have, in fact, made ecosia my main search engine, i still don't like a couple of features. firstly i believe that the AI should be completely disabled. i get you're trying to stay relevant with it, however it goes against your own beliefs. secondly, the algorithm isn't really optimised, for example i can search something that google would have as a first result and this doesn't even show it.. Also the widget needs A LOT of work, make it more appealing pls
it uses AI which is hypocritical considering that I installed it for a better environment, AI data centers pollutes drinking water and the air, you claim you use solar panels but where are they located? and you also don't provide people with the names of those organizations for transparency. Also, I can't scroll down more images when I search about something so the image will be stuck and I don't have an option to refuse cookies.
You wanted to be environmentally friendly, yet introduce AI features, with the excuse of "keeping up with market demands", which is immensely hypocritical, when you openly acknowledge that Language Models (even if they are 'small') use tons of energy & water, which is exactly what your users are trying to avoid. Carbon offsetting is not at all 'environmentally friendly' when you have the option to just not produce any or less emissions in the first place. You had a choice and you chose wrong.
