A great one is a backup-restore function for the Gateway. When a Gateway is dead, you have to configure all over manually . A simple backup (even daily or periodically) and restore to a new(er) device would be great

I have been using the tradfri gateway and lights for many years. I updated the app day before as the app required it and now it doesn't work at all. I have tried downloading it again, resetting the hub, removing all the plugs to the hub and re starting it and still nothing. The app is only showing the Ikea logo and then stays there. I downloaded the home smart app, and it is not finding the gateway. I would appreciate a solution for this please.

Very basic, awful experience pairing devices, when using a VPN to connect to your network won't work with mobile data, but gladly work when connected through Wi-Fi. It's also clear your people just want to nudge users to "upgrade" to the new gateway, which is also much more expensive than the old. This application is clearly a second class citizen compared to the "new" one, even the UI here is worse. It's better to just stick to home assistant, much better for savvy users.
