The Cherry Blossom Forecast app is only available in 2026.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMC) has released the predicted blooming dates and best viewing dates for approximately 1,000 famous cherry blossom (Somei Yoshino cherry) viewing spots across Japan, from Hokkaido to Kagoshima, including the famous Kawazu cherry blossom viewing spot in Kawazu Town (※).

■ What is the "Cherry Blossom Forecast"?

The Cherry Blossom Forecast is an app for appreciating cherry blossoms in Japan, with over 200,000 downloads. * An app that allows you to view the predicted blooming and peak blooming dates of cherry blossom spots nationwide, as well as the status of cherry blossoms before blooming (bloom meter).

It also features "Approaching Cherry Blossom Spot Notification" and "Check-in Stamps" to record visited spots, making the cherry blossom season even more enjoyable.

✨ New service in 2026: We will be adding blooming and peak blooming forecasts for Kawazu cherry blossoms! In addition to approximately 1,000 Yoshino cherry blossom viewing spots, you can now also view blooming and full-bloom forecasts for 9 Kawazu cherry blossom locations within Kawazu Town!

Kawazu cherry blossoms are an early-blooming variety, blooming from early February to early March. They are characterized by a deeper pink color than Yoshino cherry blossoms and a relatively longer blooming period.

■ What is "My Spots"?

These are the cherry blossom spots you've saved. You can save up to 30 spots.

■ National Cherry Blossom Map The locations of cherry blossom spots throughout Japan are displayed on the map using pins.

Additionally, you can distinguish the progress of cherry blossom growth by the color of the pins.

Click on a pin to view a detailed image.

You can access the map application's route guidance function via the "Route to this Cherry Blossom Viewing Spot" button.

※ If you open the cherry blossom map outside of Japan, the map will automatically switch to Japan (Tokyo).

※ Loading speed may slow down when viewing a large number of pins simultaneously.

■Detailed Image
You can view the estimated blooming date, estimated peak bloom date, and blooming gauge for each spot.

Click the "Add to My Spots" button to add the spot to your favorites list.

Click the "Visit Completed Stamp" button to add a "Visit Completed Stamp" to the spot. You can only click the "Visit Completed Stamp" button after arriving near the spot (※).

■Check-in Stamps View spots where you've already collected visit stamps. Stamps won't be erased even after the cherry blossom season ends. Accumulate them gradually!

■Approaching Cherry Blossom Spot Notifications Notifications will be sent when you approach a cherry blossom spot.

※ This function requires notifications and location information to be enabled on your device.

※ Depending on the location information obtained from your device, you may sometimes not receive notifications.

※ Location information may be inaccurate, resulting in notifications being received even outside the set notification range.

■Regarding Update Dates (Japan Time)
Flowering charts (growth rate/full bloom rate) are updated daily.

Flowering and full bloom prediction dates are released annually from December to January, and updated weekly from mid-February.

Furthermore, the above information will be gradually discontinued depending on the location where the cherry blossoms transition to "leaf cherry" approximately one week after the full bloom prediction date.

【About Cherry Blossom Growth】 Flower buds are the initial stage of cherry blossoms, forming in the summer of the year before blooming. They undergo dormancy, awakening (breaking dormancy), and growth stages before finally blooming.

After forming in summer, flower buds first enter a dormant state. Then, after a period of cold weather from autumn to winter, they awaken (break dormancy) and continue to grow in early spring as temperatures rise.
