Great newspaper, horrible app. I pay for a yearly subscription for digital access only. Despite this, every day I have to uninstall and reinstall the app as it tells me that I have reached a limit on free articles. I have tried logging out and logging back in to my pay account, and even contacting customer service. Customer service solution was to uninstall the app, reinstall it, and login again. This issue has been going on for months. **Update 11/15/19. Subscription now works w/o mult logins
The app is okay. It would be nice if there was a setting that allowed you to default to news or entertainment when you open it. I don't want the top stories since they contain literally all the news from PJ Star, including local sports, which doesn't interest me. The old app kept only news in the top stories.
The app is a bit nicer looking after the update, but still clunky due to being filled with ads. It would be nice to view older articles; they added a search function, but it seems to only go back about 3-4 months. A Journal Star subscription is helpful for staying informed about my hometown, but $5 a month is quite steep given the small quantity of articles (their writing staff is quite small) and the huge amount of ads.
I signed up for a yearly subscription, but everyday I have to uninstall & install it again for it to let me see anything. I thought that since I have a subscription at home that I pay almost $60 a month for that this app was free. Used to be! I guess not anymore.
