Lost in a mysterious realm where cause and effect are malleable, the friends find that time flows in all directions. Manipulate time to solve puzzles and reach the apex of each isle. First time leaving a review on a playstore game, but just had to for this one. I am a fan of puzzle games, but the majority of them are extremely similar and I am able to run through them easily, such as pipe puzzle in point and clicks or matching games. The mechanics for The Gardens Between was completely different, and I got bamboozled more than a few times, which added to my excitement. The story was beautiful and the soundtrack added to it's sense of melancholy. This was a masterpiece to me.
It's hard to decide on this game. Artwork if appealing, innovative set up, unique. But I wouldn't classify as a game, it's more like a interactive story, without narrative. But in an interesting experience. Being linear and not much to else to do but go back and forth. Doesn't help a replay value, and loss of attention sets quickly. If it has some narrative and area interaction, would be a 5* plus. But a good solid 4 - 4 1/2.
I very much respect the fact that the creator read & responded to my 1 star rating. So, for now, I gave it 3 stars. I may try to play again, now that I have a little more direction & hopefully I can give it 5. Thanks for responding!!
Even with extremely low graphics, this game is not optimized at all (at least for my device). Everything was fuzzy and slow, which would have been tolerable if the gameplay wasn't basically just press and hold while watching the characters do everything for you.
It's a good concept and definitely different but poorly executed. There's no guidance, no tutorial but there wouldn't be a need for one if you didn't ramp up the difficulty so fast. It didn't "grab" me and I decided Uninstall. It gets boring not getting anywhere.
