Twist: Organized Messaging vv1083
Doist Inc.About this app
Developer Description
Messaging for future-thinking teams that believe in asynchronous communication.
Twist makes collaboration easy from anywhere. Unlike Slack and Teams, it uses threads to organize all your team’s conversations — asynchronously.
ORGANIZATION
- Twist threads never bury important information in an avalanche of chit-chat (like Slack)
- Keep conversations organized and on topic → one topic = one thread
CLARITY
- Create a central place to gain visibility on your team’s work with channels
- Organize channels by topic, project, or client
FOCUS
- Help your team focus on the work that matters, instilling more calm and less anxiety with smarter notifications
- The inbox gathers threads in one place, allowing team members to easily prioritize what matters to them
ACCESS
- Give your team a historical record to learn from
- Quickly onboard new employees and easily share context to past decisions
COMMUNICATION
- Talk one-on-one with messages, privately
- Use messages to continue the work banter with all the gifs and emojis you’re familiar with, iron out last-minute details, or give feedback
AUTOMATION
- Plus all the integrations your team relies on
- Bring all your apps with you when you switch to Twist or go a step further and create your own custom automations
Plus, in Twist, “NO” is a feature:
- NO more need for back-to-back meetings: Gain more time in the day for deep work by swapping team status meetings for async threads
- NO green dots: Keep your team in the flow without the pressure to respond now
- NO typing indicators: Protect your team from design tricks that hijack their time and attention
The bottom line? Twist means productivity over presence. Sign up now.

I prefer an asynchronous way to communicate. Email is too messy with it's many threads. Twist serves the purpose nicely. My one wish is that there would be a built in video chat for those times when messages are not enough.
I have been using Twist for a few years, and the app has come a very long way! Notifications are consistent. The UI is very clean and easy to use. The only things preventing a 5 star rating is the bugs within the notifications. When I receive a message, I get a push notification and a bubble. Any attempt to reply or react causes the bubble to close. The push notification allows reading and replying but tapping it to enter the app causes the notification and the bubble to disappear.
Trouble with notification. The best performance only when we use twist on mac/laptop. Bug often happens when using in Android app.
Still, the app is extremely buggy. For example, often you can see that there is unread message in the channel, you open the channel, but there are no new messages. When you open it on the desktop, you can find that there's a message, but the app just does not show it. This bug persists for more than a year. The support recommends logout-login. It helps, but is a bit inconvenient to do it every time.
Ridiculously overcomplicated for something that should be so simple. Can't enter text on the web version. Colours on the app are so pale I just can't read them...need a dark mode. Very, very slow to update conversatiins whenever I log on. continually getting the Twist is not responding message. Sadly rest of my team want to use it or I would have deleted it by now.
