AntennaPod v3.10.3
AntennaPod Open Source TeamAbout this app
AntennaPod solves the problem of cumbersome podcast management by providing an easy-to-use, flexible, and open-source solution that benefits podcast enthusiasts and casual listeners alike. Compared to alternatives in the Music And Audio category, AntennaPod stands out with its high user rating and open-source nature, which ensures transparency and community-driven development. However, it may fall short in terms of discovery features and recommendations, which some users might find lacking. Overall, AntennaPod's strengths lie in its simplicity, customizability, and commitment to user freedom.
Pros
- With over 1 million downloads and a 4.8/5 user rating, AntennaPod has demonstrated its ability to meet the needs of a large and satisfied user base, which is a testament to its quality and reliability.
- The app's open-source nature and transparent development process ensure that users have a high degree of control over their podcast experience and can trust that their data is being handled responsibly.
- AntennaPod's minimal permission requirements and lack of ads or in-app purchases make it an attractive option for users who value their privacy and prefer an uninterrupted listening experience.
- The app's frequent updates and active community ensure that it stays up-to-date with the latest podcasting trends and technologies, which is a significant advantage over less maintained alternatives.
Cons
- Some users may find AntennaPod's feature set to be somewhat basic compared to other podcast managers, which could be a drawback for those who rely on advanced discovery features or personalized recommendations.
- The app's offline capability, while useful, may not be as seamless as some users would like, particularly if they have large podcast libraries or inconsistent internet connections.
- AntennaPod's lack of official support for certain devices or platforms might be a concern for some users, although the open-source community often steps in to fill these gaps.
Best for: The ideal user for AntennaPod is a tech-savvy podcast enthusiast who values freedom, transparency, and customizability, and is likely between the ages of 18 and 45, with a strong interest in staying up-to-date with their favorite podcasts and discovering new content, and who is willing to invest time in setting up and customizing the app to meet their specific needs.

This is the best podcast player in my opinion - I have a pixel 9 pro. My only suggestion being, and I don't know if this is on your end or on the recorders (production), but there is a fairly common audio glitch where the podcast will jump backwards in time. Maybe 5, sometimes 10 minutes, with no warning. It's a little bit disruptive. I don't know - maybe there's a fix from your end. But heyo, otherwise love the app good work!
Since Apple killed the iPod I use a cheap clunky Android device for podcasts. AntennaPod isn't quite as sophisticated as Apple Podcasts but it gets the job done and the price is right. t
it skips all over the place and it doesn't automatically play the next episode.
It's recently started stopping. All the time. Frustrating when driving, so I usually give up and listen to music instead.
. WARNING!!! CONTAINS ADS. THE EXPLICITLY SAY NO ADS AND BAKE ADS INTO THE PODCAST. don't care how good the app is. they hide ads before your podcasts in a way that makes it seem like the ad is naturally part of the podcast. gross
