About this app

Line Rider solves the problem of providing a creative and engaging simulation experience by allowing users to draw their own tracks, making it an excellent choice for those who enjoy game simulation and creativity. This app benefits users who are looking for a fun, low-maintenance experience without excessive permissions or aggressive monetization. Compared to alternatives in the Game Simulation category, Line Rider stands out with its simple yet addictive gameplay and lack of ads or in-app purchases. However, it may fall short in terms of complexity and depth for more experienced gamers.

Pros

  • With a 4.2/5 rating and over 10,000 downloads, Line Rider has demonstrated a strong reputation and social proof, indicating a well-received game with a dedicated user base.
  • The app's paid model without ads or in-app purchases ensures an uninterrupted gaming experience, which is a significant advantage for users seeking a hassle-free simulation game.
  • The absence of any permission requests is a notable pro, as it alleviates concerns about data privacy and security, making it an attractive option for users who value their personal data.
  • The simplicity of the game, combined with its offline capability, makes it an excellent choice for users looking for a game to play on-the-go without requiring a constant internet connection.
  • The developer's reputation, as evident from their website and support email, suggests a commitment to user support and feedback, which is crucial for the long-term success and improvement of the app.

Cons

  • One concern is the relatively simple gameplay, which might not be engaging enough for experienced gamers looking for more complex simulation experiences.
  • The lack of updates or new features might lead to user boredom over time, as the app's content and gameplay may become repetitive.
  • The paid model, while ensuring an ad-free experience, might deter some users who are accustomed to free or freemium models, potentially limiting the app's appeal to a broader audience.
  • There is limited information available about the app's performance on lower-end devices or older Android versions, which could be a concern for users with less capable hardware.

Best for: The ideal user for Line Rider is someone who enjoys casual, creative, and low-maintenance game simulation experiences, likely in the age range of 13 to 30, with a medium to high level of technical skill, and who values simplicity, fun, and privacy in their gaming experiences.

Loved this game as a kid. Now, I appreciate it more than ever. As a media creator, I strive to keep as much of my work in desktop format as possible, but I still very much enjoy the ease of mobile-friendly apps. In purchasing this app, I was hesitant because I didn't want to make a track on the main site on my computer and not be able to work on my phone for whatever reason. In reading the description and some of the reviews, I didn't find anything on the friendliness of cross-platforming. So, I purchased it and tested it myself. To my pleasantry, tracks can be exported and loaded across both platforms. Please put this in the description (and possibly a tutorial in Help)! The compatibility is an overlooked feature!

This game is everything I remember from playing online years ago. And it runs so smoothly. The only thing that kept me from giving this game 5 stars is that it's missing the feature that the webpage version has of being able to upload song audio to your project. It would be cool to see that put into this mobile app version.

This is a great port of LRJS, but is it worth the price? Ehhhh... 2.99 sounds like a bit much for what was a free DeviantArt Flash game. I do understand that this has much more than beta 1, but hell LRJS was free, LRA was free and each one has more features than this. I guess if you're HUGE into Line Rider (which i was once upon a time) this is alright i guess.

Memory hog. I really enjoy the game, but as my tracks get longer (my current one is 8 minutes) my device slows down. In game, that means I draw a line & literally wait 5 seconds for it to appear. I guess it has to do so much thinking when paths intersect that it uses all the RAM. Worse, my device is slower even after I quitthe game, & use Device Care to clean up memory issues. I have to reboot just for it to function normally. I play less as a result.
