This is an excellent app not only for looking up words, but phrases as well. My only gripe is that it doesn't include hiragana pronunciations for individual words; this is likely because it is intended for a Japanese audience who would already know the pronunciations. All in all, though, this is a great dictionary.

Eijiro is a handful EJ dictionary. I used it since I was highschool student, about 14 years ago, on the CD rom version. This application offer me a quick review of what I consulted with itself. This enables me to build up stronger English vocabulary. This is best app to use we you are saturated with the vocabularies enough to read NYT ot WSJ. I strongly recommend to disable advertisement if you are seriously learn English from the ground up. ADs really intoxicate us when we are at a focus.

I've used this service for a long time, and really appreciate it. Unfortunately, the app has recently had an insane amount of ads added to it - nearly half the screen is taken up with them, and sometimes full screen ads that are difficult to close are shown. I understand that it's a free app and that ads are necessary, but there has to be a reasonable limit. At this point I'd rather not use the service, in favour of others like weblio.
