About this app

The ResearchGate app solves the problem of accessing research materials on-the-go, benefiting academics, researchers, and students who need to stay updated on the latest developments in their fields. Compared to alternatives in the Education category, ResearchGate stands out for its vast repository of research papers and collaborations, although it falls short in terms of personalized learning features. With a high user rating of 4.4/5 and over 1 million downloads, it has established itself as a trusted platform. However, the presence of ads may be a drawback for some users.

Pros

  • The app's large user base and high rating of 4.4/5 indicate a well-received and trustworthy platform, making it an excellent choice for researchers and academics.
  • The ResearchGate app provides access to a vast collection of research papers, allowing users to stay updated on the latest developments in their fields.
  • The app's developer, ResearchGate GmbH, has a reputation for maintaining a professional and reliable platform, which is reflected in the app's performance and updates.
  • The absence of in-app purchases is a significant advantage, as it ensures that users have access to all features without additional costs.

Cons

  • The presence of ads in the app may be distracting or annoying for some users, potentially disrupting their research experience.
  • The app requires Android 7.0 or later, which may limit its compatibility with older devices, potentially excluding some users from accessing the platform.
  • The lack of personalized learning features or recommendations may make it less engaging for casual learners or students who are not actively involved in research.

Best for: The ideal user for the ResearchGate app is a researcher, academic, or student in higher education, likely between the ages of 20 and 50, who is actively engaged in research and needs access to a vast repository of research papers and collaborative tools to stay updated in their field.

I really like the app, but I’d really love to have screen rotation support when turning the device sideways. The text is too small to read comfortably, and solely because of that I’m still opening it from the browser.

Nice app but still got multiple problems in Android 16 with Samsung OneUI 8, eg cannot get to settings (the app just hangs). Good to see other bugs getting fixed.

There is no option to add a research. You have to go to the website to add your research, so what's the point of this app? When you go to the website it doesn't let you to log in, it keeps saying new device detected and enter code sent on your email.. and you never receive that code on your email, no matter how much you try.

Actually such apps are hurdel in path breaking technological research. If you follow its matrix, it make you dumb, data generating labour guy, having big network. It encourages you to do labour job in research instead to do new innovations. See, how science progressed in last century without much publications. Now we are genera so many publications but path breaking science is not happening. Good for biology, chemistry, mat sci and simulation guys, where more scope of labour data generating job
