Open the camera in Baby-Safe Home AR to use our object detection functionalities. Point the camera at different objects in your home. Make sure to cover single, full objects on the screen. If the object could cause accidents or be a possible danger for your little one, Baby-Safe will notify you and give you advice how to avoid possible accidents.
*Disclaimer*
Baby-Safe Home AR can give you advice and raise awareness for the safety of your baby. Even though you might have marked all dangers discovered by the app as banned, we cannot guarantee that nothing will happen. Watch out, every home has individual dangers for the little ones and it is your responsibility to make your home a safe place for your baby!
*FAQs*
How does that whole thing work?
Baby-Safe Home AR uses the MLKit library by Google to detect objects. In the background there is an object detection model, that defines a list of classifications for detected objects. Baby-Safe Home AR uses this technology to detect and classify objects in your home and gives you relevant information about how to avoid accidents with babies for the given objects.
Is my data sent to any server?
NO. Your images or anything that is detected in your home stay on your device, no personalised or generated data is sent to any server or other location. As stated before Baby-Safe Home AR uses the MLKit library by Google. Google might send hardware-information, usage data and statistics to their servers, but this data does not contain any personal data or images of your home.
Baby-Safe Home AR also works offline without an internet connection.
Why doesn’t the app recognise certain objects?
Object detection and image classification is a research field that is constantly improved. Baby-Safe Home AR is using a state of the art object detection and image classification library and model. However, objects come in different shapes and variations – not all objects might be recognised. Also light conditions and camera quality can have an impact on the recognition process.
