Curated Sudoku puzzles
Classic sudoku is where it all began, and there is still lots of skill to be deployed to solve classic puzzles, and new techniques to be explored.
Nikoli, the Japanese puzzle house, named and popularised sudoku from 1984, and we have commissioned 20 puzzles from them for this Classic Sudoku 2 app. We have also created 20 ourselves, and sourced 20 more from Sam Cappleman-Lynes, the brilliant British sudoku expert. The result is a wonderful 60-puzzle pack which will delight and challenge you.

Bought all apps from cracking the cryptic and its evident, that they take great care in puzzle selection and difficulty curve. i love them all. this one has a missing rule in #7 though. For anyone else stuck looking at box 9 for an hour: The same custom rule for arrows from an earlier puzzle is present here, arrows sum to a single digit total. That rule was specifically mentioned before but is missing here. The puzzle has the "custom" tag but no custom ruleset, so i guess it's an oversight.
Fantastic puzzles, but there are a few little annoyances with the UI. When selecting a puzzle from the list there is a significant lag before the menu is opened, sometimes making you wonder if you've opened the puzzle. If you then tap it again it will of course close the menu as soon as it opens, so you have to wait again. I would also like better dark theme options. Region sum lines should also have access to the calculator from killer sudokus, even if it's not tied to the lines.
This app is worth it for the unique and interesting puzzles it comes with. I've really enjoyed solving them. The app itself has a clunky UX and there are performance issues but you get used to them after time. My biggest frustration is the hint system. It is very clear that they have not been proofread or QAed. They're often riddled with typos, the logical leaps are too hard to follow, and in the latest update one set of hints is for a different puzzle entirely. For a paid app, this is absurd!
The App Designer simply doesn't care about this app or the customers. The timer start going while you are reading the rules. I have lost minutes trying to understand some weird rules. Also please allow us to sort by puzzles not completed. At the end you have to scroll for ages to find the one you want. Finally, what is up with the 15 second delay between when a puzzle is selected and when it finally comes up? I can tell the developer don't use his own product and that is always scary.
2024/12/06 An annoying bug has reappeared with the latest release. Finish a puzzle, close the app, reopen the app and the previously finished puzzle is no longer complete. Also, any puzzle that requires cell totals like "Little Killer" should provide a calculator.
