Arlo LeachAbout this app
Set List Maker is a specialized tool designed to solve the problem of repertoire management for musicians, allowing them to organize and manage their set lists efficiently. This app benefits professional and amateur musicians alike, providing a dedicated platform for planning and executing performances. Compared to other music and audio apps, Set List Maker stands out with its focus on organization and planning, though its relatively simple feature set and high price point may deter some users. Its lack of permissions requests is a notable advantage, indicating a strong commitment to user privacy.
Pros
- Set List Maker's high user rating of 3.7 out of 5 indicates a generally positive reception from its user base, suggesting that the app is effective in meeting the needs of its target audience.
- The app's offline capability, implied by its lack of permissions, allows musicians to access and manage their set lists even without internet connectivity, making it a reliable tool for live performances.
- The developer's reputation, as evidenced by their professional website and support email, suggests a commitment to supporting and updating the app, which is crucial for an app that requires frequent data management.
- The absence of ads in the app ensures an uninterrupted user experience, which is particularly important for an app used in professional settings where focus and efficiency are key.
- The option for in-app purchases may provide additional features or functionalities that can enhance the user experience, though the base price of $19.99 may still be a barrier for some potential users.
Cons
- The high upfront cost of $19.99 may deter some users, especially considering the app's relatively simple feature set compared to other music management tools available on the market.
- The limited number of downloads, at 5,000+, may indicate that the app has not yet reached a wide audience, which could affect the developer's ability to gather feedback and implement updates based on user needs.
- The lack of detailed information about what the in-app purchases offer may lead to confusion or mistrust among potential buyers, who might be hesitant to commit to additional expenses without clear benefits.
- The app's compatibility, starting from Android 5.0, might exclude users with older devices, limiting its accessibility to a broader range of potential users.
Best for: The ideal user for Set List Maker is a professional or semi-professional musician who regularly performs live and needs a reliable, easy-to-use tool for managing their set lists, with a medium to high level of technical skill to fully utilize the app's features and potential in-app purchases.

Set List Maker users say on Google Play
For my work flow this is great, I know I'm not getting the most out of the app as I can because I pretty much just need lyrics in front of me from time to time. Well worth it for musicians out there.
I have used this app for years and have relied on it heavily. It would be a 5 except for glitches in recent years where it freezes and/or closes unexpectedly. Fortunately, I use in settings where my fellow musicians and occasional audiences are forgiving. I was very saddened by the loss of synchronization years ago, which I paid for. It's a PITA to keep my iPad & android synced. If I was a working musician I would purchase Bandmate, cannot justify. Now the iPad ver. has lost all metadata. Sigh
I've used Set List Maker for about 5 years and as a practice tool, it's awesome. There's a bit of a learning curve, but quite easy to use once you've got the hang of it. I've programmed over 100 songs; lyrics, chords, a background track or two, etc. Use it daily. One fatal flaw keeps me from scoring higher.. Every so often, in the middle of scrolling a song, the software will glitch, scrolling will end prematurely and reset to the beginning. Can't gig with it until that is fixed.
Crashing constantly when adding chords. This is super frustrating and a waste of time.
I had really high hopes but this app is just WAY too frustrating to set up. It crashes a lot, auto-scrolling is a nightmare to get correct scroll speed, and layouts are complicated and confusing. Wasted money other than to send midi presets to my midi devices but many other apps can do that too. After sending so many crash reports I finally gave up. Wound up with an iPad and Onsong and now have a working solution.
