About this app

The Physics Toolbox Magnetometer app solves the problem of measuring and visualizing magnetic field data, making it an excellent tool for students, researchers, and professionals in fields like physics and engineering. It stands out from alternatives in the Tools category with its simple and intuitive interface, as well as its ability to export data as a.csv file. With a high user rating of 4.5/5 and over 100,000 downloads, this app has demonstrated its value to the community. However, its limited feature set and lack of advanced analysis tools may make it less suitable for more complex applications.

Pros

  • The app's high user rating of 4.5/5 and moderate download numbers indicate a high level of social proof and user satisfaction.
  • The app's simple and intuitive interface makes it easy to use, even for those without extensive technical knowledge.
  • The ability to export data as a.csv file allows for easy analysis and integration with other tools and software.
  • The developer's reputation and frequent updates suggest a commitment to maintaining and improving the app.

Cons

  • The app's limited feature set and lack of advanced analysis tools may make it less suitable for more complex applications or professional use.
  • The presence of ads may be distracting or disruptive to some users, particularly in a tool intended for focused work or study.
  • The app's lack of offline capability may limit its usefulness in areas with poor internet connectivity.

Best for: The ideal user for this app is a student, researcher, or professional in a field like physics or engineering, who requires a simple and intuitive tool for measuring and visualizing magnetic field data, and values ease of use and data export capabilities over advanced features or complex analysis tools.

Developer Description

Displays a graph of Magnetic Field vs.Time graph in x, y, z. Export as a .csv

This magnetic field sensor app measures and displays a graph of Magnetic Field (µT) vs. Time (s) that in x, y, and/or z dimensions, as well as total magnitude. By accessing settings, data can also be displayed with a digital read-out.

Total magnitude magnetic field strength can be recorded and exported in an e-mail or through Google Drive as a .csv attachment using a comma or a semicolon as a delimiter. Click on settings to plot data against elapsed time or clock time, to change the plot line thickness, or to change data collection rate. A brief tutorial upon start-up gives an overview of how to use the app.

The magnetic field sensor can measure the background magnetic field of the earth and be used to check for the presence of permanent magnets or electromagnetic fields. Within the classroom, the magnetometer can be used to determine the inverse-square law for a "point source" magnet, to determine the strength of a field produced by a solenoid, or to measure the frequency of objects with magnetic variations, such as audio speakers or magnetic plate stirrers.

Permissions Explained:

android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: A csv file is created and modified on the phone's internal memory.

However, users should still be cautious when exporting and sharing data, particularly if it is sensitive or confidential. To minimize risk, users should ensure that their device and app are up to date, and be mindful of any updates or changes to the app's permissions or terms of service.

Tips

To get the most out of this app, users should start by familiarizing themselves with the interface and settings, and exploring the different features and options available. Users can also optimize performance by closing other resource-intensive apps and ensuring a stable internet connection. Additionally, users can improve their experience by regularly exporting and backing up their data, in case of accidental loss or corruption.

Seriously good App. I get that the sensors are proportional to how well this meter App works but other than the specs to the app, the layout is smooth while the interface makes it all come together. I Rate it "R" bc the app designer Murdered it!!!
