You are in command of the Allied forces attempting to seize Rome by piercing the German Gustav Line at Monte Cassino to link up with the American forces in the Anzio beachhead. If you balance speed and risk just right, you can cut off a huge number of Axis units by connecting your two groups and then launch an offensive against the Italian capital, or you can frustratingly get bogged down in the middle of the Italian mountains and rivers.

In order to be a victorious general, you must learn to coordinate your attacks in two ways. First, as adjacent units give support to an attacking unit, keep your units in groups in order to gain local superiority. Secondly, it is rarely the best idea to use brute force when it is possible to encircle the enemy and cut off its supply lines instead.
