A curious game about falling down a well in search of untold treasures!

Downwell is a curious game about a young person venturing down a well in search of untold treasures with only his Gunboots for protection. Make your way further and further down into the darkness filled with nasty creatures and mysterious secrets to collect the spectacular red gems scattered about the rocks. Step into precariously placed shops and buy some helpful items or level up between levels to battle well-dwelling monsters and uncover hidden caves filled with riches and relics. No two trips down the well are ever the same!

The Amazing Gunboots - The fashionable and lethal Gunboots allow players to unleash a torrent of firepower on the nasty creatures dwelling in the well and slow your decent with each shot.

Unique Weapons & Items - Get different weapons, shop for peculiar items and obtain powerful upgrades that all stack and affect the way you play!

A New Adventure Every Time - Each level in Downwell is procedurally generated, so no two trips down the well are ever the same providing a fresh new adventure each time!

So, my honest thoughts are this... while the controls kind of suck, the gameplay is exceptional and enjoyable every time. It does take a bit of getting used to, but once you get the groove of things, you'll come to find that it is quite addictive. All and all, this is a game worth buying, but if the controls are too frustrating for you, then you might want to sit this one out.

no “Freelance Bum” name

This is a really good time killer that you can pick up and put down fast, but I've had a few issues that have persisted over the years I've been playing. Many times it will randomly stop taking inputs for a moment, or act like I'm holding a button down when I'm not. It also sometimes just freezes and ends the run. YMMV because maybe it's my phone, but it's been a consistent problem across many android versions. The game is unforgiving, which would be fine if the controls were consistent.

really cool game except for the controls. you can adjust the distance between left/right and jump, but you can't adjust between left and right. ideally there'd be an additional control so you could move left and right without taking your finger off the screen. I often try to tap left or right and just miss the button and die. it's quite frustrating.

Game is great. Fast. Challenging. Fun. Addictive. Android port lacks controller support unfortunately. This is a shame since tight controls are key to enjoying it at its fullest. Touch controls are ok for casually trying the game, but will make it impossible to progress.
