The app conveys the history of the division of Germany at historical locations.

The "Grenzland" app of the Bavarian State Center for Political Education is aimed at "day trippers" in the Bavarian-Thuringian-Saxon border region. It provides historical insights into the period from 1945 to 1990 and takes you to places where special events occurred during this period.

Immerse yourself in the history of people and places that were under the influence of the SED regime and the GDR. Hear the stories of people who wanted to evade this regime and sought their way to freedom. Explore museums and memorials along the way and learn about the historical context of the division of Germany and the Peaceful Revolution that brought down the border fences and walls.

The app takes you to historical sites and places of remembrance as part of various tours. The individual routes each cover 150 to 200 kilometers, which can best be covered by motorcycle, car or (e-) bicycle.
