Earthquake Network is the most comprehensive app on earthquakes and for most countries of the world it is the only earthquake early warning system able to alert you before the seismic waves. More details about the research project at https://www.sismo.app

The Earthquake Network research project develops a smartphone-based earthquake early warning system able to detect earthquakes in real time and to alert the population in advance. Smartphones are able to detect earthquakes thanks to the accelerometer on-board each device. When an earthquake is detected, users with the application installed are immediatly alerted. Since earthquake waves travel at a finite speed (from 5 to 10 km/s) it is possible to alert the population not yet reached by the damaging waves of the earthquake. Note that the information on earthquakes detected by national and international seismic networks is usually published with a delay ranging from a few minutes to many hours, depending on the seismic network.

I haven't received a real-time alert before. I don't know if it's not available in my country (Philippines) or it's just not working. But I am only here to review on why the 'Earthquake Simulator' button was removed in the recent updates, Please give me a reason or try to bring it back because I really want to know on how near Earthquakes affect my location. Regardless of those 2 problems I still love this app and how improved it has become from the UI changes and all that stuff.

Here's the thing I need help with. Since I live in Türkiye, there are earthquakes happening all the time. I've set the app to inform me if earthquake over 5.0 happens relatively close. Yet, it keeps waking us up in the middle of the night over 4.1 one, 300km away. It's really difficult to put kids back to sleep when this happens. Other than that, it's really timely, gives you few seconds time to response. I would recommend it

I miss steve jobs so much. he would have slapped whoever thought it was a good idea to force gps on. I need the battery life, you visionless, aphantasic talentless devs. do you think your location accuracy matters when I am underneath 2ms of concrete? Why not just choose a location and radius and be alerted for that rather than keeping gps on which destroys the battery life?
